No B.S. Coaching Advice

Environments | Career Angles

I first heard the statement, “environments win,” when I did coach training. We were encouraged to examine our environment and see what we were tolerating and get rid of it. The messy work space that makes it hard to do what you do, the co-worker who always lingered at my desk complaining, these were examples I sought to eliminate.

If you notice your environment is making it hard for you to be successful, even if you think the issue is trivial, it pays to ZAP the things you are tolerating ad get rid of them so you operate at a high level.

If the issue involves a co-worker, you can start by limiting their time complaining to you.

If the issue is your workspace, clean it up!

I want to be clear that I am not asking you to change jobs. I am encouraging you to make changes so that your environment supports you.

Excuse me. I have to clean up my desk again.
