No B.S. Coaching Advice

Like a Potted Plant | Career Angles

People need to know what to expect of you (and it better be damn good) or you will be ignored and get the rewards for being ignored.

Seth Godin says very simply, “You are either judged or ignored.”

Being ignored means you can be dismissed in all senses of that word.

When you wonder why you don’t get the promotion in the salary that comes with it, the reason is because you can be dismissed. The reason is because you chose to be ignored and invisible.

Being invisible, to me, means like being part of the furniture.

You are taken for granted.

There is nothing to distinguish you from others.

You are like an office potted plant. You get a little bit of water. Occasionally, someone feeds you. The most of the time no one notices you in your ignored.
