So often, people put limitations on themselves or limited choices. Perhaps there is another way to look at things.
Many people, whether they are job hunters, business owners … They set up their life and put themselves in a bind. The bind occurs by limiting their options. It’s either one thing or another.
Job hunters may think that because they work for a bank, that’s all that they can do. I would really like to do something else but I don’t know how I can get there.Or maybe your virtual assistant who enjoys theater if they haven’t figured out yet how to tie the bow for yourself and combine the 2
If you’re in business for yourself, you may put yourself in a situation where, for example, you only see yourself as being able to work as a virtual assistant for someone. You don’t see any other possibilities for yourself. Or maybe you’re virtual assistant who likes the theater and haven’t figured out a way to combine the 2 into one package that you really enjoy.
The problem is that when you see things as an either or with no other possibilities, you really become very limited with what your choices are. That is a problem because life becomes miserable.
There is a way out and I’ll just say that whether it is with me or with someone else, a few coaching sessions goes a long way toward helping people breakout and do something very different.
It’s like the old Saturday Night Live skit with Roseanne Roseannadanna . . . If it’s not one thing it’s another. When you’re only set up in a very small space and can see other options, it becomes very painful and you start to feel stuck.Worse than that, you don’t try getting help for yourself which, I know, in the US is a cultural taboo. You have to figure it out for yourself. That’s a lie that you tell yourself to keep yourself stuck.
What I would like to encourage you to do is think about working with coach for a few sessions and get some ideas about how to do do things differently than the way that you have it set up. In addition, I want to encourage you to do it in a way where you can have some fun.Play. Experiment. Try some different ideas.
After all, when you were a kid growing up, a lot of what you did growing up didn’t work out, did it? That was fun, wasn’t it? Even in college you may have sent to yourself, “Oh well, that didn’t work out.”
Then you went on to the next thing.
But, as adults, we forget about things like that. As a result, we don’t do a lot of things outside of that “box,” that we operate within. Working with a coach, someone who can help you try some different things in put some fun in your life, play and experiment and try things like you did when you were young…It may not work out. That’s the reality to it.
However, along the way, a coach will help you not beat yourself up, not punish yourself for making a mistake. You know… Making a mistake. How many mistakes did Alexander Graham Bell make before he created a telephone? The telephone, itself, was a mistake… But that’s a different conversation.
I hope you reach out to me
