Does someone always need to light a fire underneath you or do you have that fire in you?
I’m Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. I coach people, I do one on one career and leadership coaching. You can visit a lot of my stuff in one of three places, NoBSCoachingAdvice.com, TheBigGameHunter.us, or JobSearchCoachingHQ, com. My stuff is in a lot of different places. But those are the three websites I would point you to.
The video is titled, “The Fire.” In it, I want to start by asking a question, Are you someone who has a fire within you or do people need to light a fire under you? I think most people for whom a fire has to be lit underneath them are doing things that don’t really matter to them. I say that because when you really care, the fire burns bright. Once the fire starts burning bright, there’s a whole host of opportunities that present themselves to you. But when the fire isn’t there, and others have to light a fire underneath you to get you to do the things that you know you have the responsibility to you, whether it’s at work, with friends and family, wherever it is, then if you’re happy with it, don’t do anything.
But most people who come to me talk to me about wanting to really like (fill in the blank) like being home, having work life balance, having a career that they enjoy, things along those lines. It’s indicative of boredom. It’s not interesting.
I know for myself when I was still doing search work, and I was exploring the idea of first becoming a therapist. Then some years later become coach, I became very excited about each of these possibilities. I didn’t go into being a therapist right away because I met my wife in graduate school and we decided to have a family and I was going to be the primary income earner. So, I didn’t want to start a practice them. But years later, I did. Part of it was, as I started to get back into school to learn what I needed to, the fire start to come alive again. The passion showed up. And I really enjoy what I do.
I say that for those of you who need that fire, that you have to spend some time exploring different options, that’s going to change things. Knowing that not everything that you’ve tried the first thing or the second thing or the fifth thing or the 50th thing is going to be THAT thing.
So, it’s time to light the fire again within you. I’d love to help you but, sure, there are other people who can as well, not just simply coaches, but friends, family, you know, other people who are important to you who can see your blind spots and help you.
As a coach, I’d love to be of support to you. If that interests you reach out to me through LinkedIn at linkedin.com/in/TheBigGameHunter. Once we’re connected, message that you’re interested in coaching. We’ll set up time for a free discovery call.
Hope you have a great day and take care.
