Too often, I see people stuck in their current roles, losing the ambition to move ahead. This video discusses some of the launching points to change that.
I’m Jeff Altman,The Big Game Hunter, a coach who helps people with workplace
related issues. It can be with your job search, with hiring more effectively,
managing and leading, overall workforce performance.
I know of very few people who want to stay doing the same thing that they’ve
been doing for the last five years, 10 years, 25 years. Everyone wants to move
up and do something superior, in their judgment, to what they’re doing now. How do you do this?
It’s not just purely about competence. It’s about the presence that you convey, the
manner that you suggest in all your interactions. It’s how people act towards
you during an interview . . . not an interview, a meeting and how you deal
with them. It’s being prepared, having ideas, having opinions, asking great
questions, being careful with your language, in order to ensure that you’re communicating effectively,
I’m not talking about rudeness, although obviously you don’t want to be rude. But
it’s the power of your language and how you connect with people that’s so
important. It’s dressing appropriately, keeping a record of what you’ve
accomplished In your meetings and in your act interactions. You can do that
daily. You know, there’s any number of apps for your computer, for your phone
that allow you to track your accomplishments. But, fundamentally,
you want to be with people who want to achieve, who have great expectations of you. And you, of them. e
You want to dress the part for the role that you want to step into so that you’re
proactive in having the right appearance so that people can see you in that way.
Too often, people conduct themselves like their peers and wonder why they don’t
step stand out. They wonder why they never have the chance to move up. And it’s all the behaviors that are missing that
I’ve cited in this video that becomes so important that you neglect.
