Who Would Tap You on The Shoulder? | Career Angles

As I look at certain industry leaders, one of the things I notice is how often they receive a metaphorical “tap on the shoulder” to make a suggestion that they are seen and able to do something different and important.

I was reminded of this listening to an interview with Eric Schmidt, the former CEO of Google, who received his while in conversation with John Doerr, a legendary venture capitalist with Kleiner Perkins who encouraged him to meet with Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the founders of Google. I received one from a man I had met with a number of times who tapped me on the shoulder to let me know that there was going to be a meeting in a few days with men who were interested in starting a New York chapter of a not-for-profit and “I should be there.”

Who could and would tap you on the shoulder? Answering that can be the mosyt important answer of your life.
